Actor Elijah Wood Moves Beyond Middle-Earth

Pretty much everywhere he goes, Elijah Wood hears the same things.

"Hey Frodo!"

"How're things in Middle-earth?"

"Speak to me in Elvish!"

Even after moving on to other film roles ("Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind," "Everything is Illuminated," "Sin City"), television ("Wilfred" on FX) and movie voice-overs ("9," "Happy Feet," "TRON: Uprising), the diminutive actor is still best known for his recurring role as the hobbit named Frodo Baggins, the primary protagonist of the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy.

So one of the things he has most appreciated in making his first visit to Sarasota this week, as the latest guest in the Ringling College of Art and Design's Digital Filmmaking Studio Lab, is that the students here see him more as a source than a celebrity. Read More
