'Christmas Story' Actor Finds Challenges Behind Camera

For local movie fans in particular, Peter Billingsley will forever be Ralphie, the bespectacled kid at the center of the Cleveland-shot A Christmas Story.

Billingsley offers nothing but fond memories of the film, and of Bob Clark, the director, who became a mentor to Billingsley as the young actor began pursuing his own career behind the camera.

But it has been more than 25 years since A Christmas Story first appeared in theaters. Billingsley is in his late thirties, a producer and one of the key members of Wild West Picture Show Productions, actor Vince Vaughn's company. Billingsley and Vaughn have been friends for 20 years, going back to when they worked together in a CBS Schoolbreak Special.
