Home-Schooling: 'Family' Time Key to Young Actor

Ten-year-old home-schooler Nolan Gould plays Luke Dunphy on ABC's new mockumentary sitcom "Modern Family."

Taking after his older brother, Aiden, Nolan began acting in commercials at age 3 — while most kids were watching "Sesame Street." Both boys liked acting, and were clearly gifted. By age 5, when he would have entered kindergarten, Aiden was reading Harry Potter books by himself and doing multiplication.

His mother, who asked that her name be withheld to help protect her family's privacy, said in a recent interview she thought, "'What would they teach him?' We needed to keep them home."  Read More
