Background Talent Becomes Photo Double in the Adam Sandler Film "Grown Ups"

At the suggestion of Dianne Williams’s nephew last May, she mailed forms and photos for both of her boys to be extras in Adam Sandler’s movie "Grown Ups." She figured her older son Chase could earn some money over the summer and her younger son McCrae would find it cool to see movie stars up close. She had no idea how "close" that would be and what was about to unfold.

On May 13, she received a call from the casting director and was surprised to learn her younger son McCrae was selected as a photo double for the child actor playing one of Sandler’s sons in the movie.

"At first, I thought the phone call was some sort of Jam Scam from Boston’s radio station but as the conversation carried on, it got more and more real and I was shocked to say the least," said Dianne Williams.

The casting director asked if McCrae would come down to their Boston office that afternoon for some preliminary photos, hair and makeup, and to hang out with the rest of the child actors. Read More
