State of Georgia Proposing New Policies for Child Performers

At the requests of several production companies and Representatives of Minors, the Georgia Department of Labor (GDOL) is implementing a new electronic Application for easy access registration and certification of minors, casting and production companies; and to approve employment of a minor in a production.  This Application will provide all parties who employ minors in the entertainment industry with simpler and more expedient interactions with GDOL and with the ability for submission and tracking seven days a week. The Application will go into production Friday, December 1, 2017.  Effective March 1, 2018  all requests for approval of employing minors in a production must use the Application.  Directions concerning the use of the Application will be made available on our Website at https://dol.georgia.gov/  on November 29, 2017.
GDOL has completed a review to update its Rules for Minors in Entertainment. In this regard, we wish to advise you that GDOL is repealing and replacing the existing Rules. We are attaching a copy of the Notice for your review.  The proposed Rules may be reviewed at our Website.  Click on this link https://dol.georgia.gov/blog/notice-amendments-inspection-child-labor to get to the “landing page” which will list the proposed repealed Rules and new Rules.    We request that you please advise the Representatives of the Minors you employ about the proposed Rule changes and the new Application.
Please note that all written comments about the proposed Rules must be received by October 30, 2017. Written comments must be sent to the Georgia Department of Labor, Attn: Legal Services, 148 Andrew Young International Blvd., NE, Suite 600, Atlanta, GA 30303. Electronic comments must be sent to reg-comments@gdol.ga.gov  The public comment meeting will be held on October 30, 2017 at 10:00 am at the Georgia Department of Labor, Central Office.  Please see the Notice for the address.
