Finding Representation

March 05, 2016

So you have decided to pursue acting for your child? You've taken headshots, created a resume and submitted to a few casting calls, but now you're wondering what to do next.

You probably know that in order to truly succeed in showbiz, you need to find representation.  Easier said than done, right?  Well, Children In Film is committed to helping you do just that!  As a social networking site whose main goal is to support the positive employment of child actors by bringing talent and industry professionals together, Children In Film makes every effort to connect you and your child with the representation you need.  For the first time ever, we're providing a service where you can easily connect with agents and managers and read their ratings and recommendations left by other members.  It's an efficient and cost-effective way to get started on your search for representation.

Here are some suggestions for how to get started:

  • Know the difference between an agent and a manager - Although both agents and managers function similarly, a simple distinction between the two is that agents negotiate and service contracts, while managers engage in career direction and the overall management of their client's career and business.  To learn more, click here.
  • Learn the proper steps for finding great representation - Read through our KidStart program. It is important to first be prepared with headshots or snapshots of your child and a resume.  We can help you build a great resume even if you feel like your child does not yet have experience.
  • Do your research - Children In Film makes it easy to search agents and managers in your area who represent children.  You can view their profiles and ratings, and contact other parents for references.
  • Submit to open talent calls - Children In Film periodically features Agents and Managers who are taking submissions for new talent.  Make sure your profile is updated with a photo, bio and resume information so you'll be ready for the next call!
