Q&A: Catching Fire Star Josh Hutcherson

Does the second instalment in The Hunger Games feel even more epic than the first?

I think so. This one is about the slow tension building beneath the surface; the rebellion of the people against the government is starting to build up. In this movie we have to go back into the Hunger Games after we have paraded around the country to all the districts, after Katniss and I have just won. So it’s a movie about the uprising of the people and also about us going back into the Hunger Games and having to fight for our lives one more time.

Yet again both Peeta and Katniss are reluctant heroes…

Neither of them wants to be there, that’s for sure. But yeah, they’re definitely reluctant heroes. They have to go about the Hunger Games differently this time from last time. It’s really a different experience for both of them.

Is there even more action for your character this time around?

There’s a lot more action this time, especially for my character, which was a challenge. There was a lot of choreography to learn. Having to focus on the character and that side of things makes it a lot more challenging. I love doing stunts and always have. Over my career I have got to do a few movies that have stunts in them so I have a little bit of background. On this I got to learn some sword training and more fight training. It was good. Read More
