Role Was Lifelong Goal for Young Star of 'Lord of the Dance'

Zachary Klingenberg was "very young" the first time he saw Michael Flatley's "Lord of the Dance" Irish dance extravaganza in an arena in his hometown of Columbus, Ohio.

"It was like a high-powered rock 'n' roll type of situation," says Klingenberg, who was "6 or 7" at the time.

Even though the show, which comes to the Plaza Theatre on Sunday, was retooled for theaters and performing arts centers several years after its 1996 debut, the guy who now plays Flatley's title role in the Celtic fairy tale says it's basically the same show he saw as a little kid.

"It's still very high-powered, but it's recently been updated. All the costumes, the set, the sound," he said by phone recently. "It just kind of in another atmosphere." Read More
