South Africa Reexamines Child Labor Laws

Children who work in entertainment in the U.S. are fortunate to have laws and regulations which defend their best interests.  Unfortunately, this is not always the case in other parts of the world.  Blood Diamond, a highly acclaimed movie which was shot in South Africa, depicts the death and misery associated with diamond mines.  The use of child actors who portray children in extremely disturbing circumstances has once again raised the issue of how or whether children may or may not be used in productions that expose them to violence, sex or other potentially disturbing situations. Read More
