Decision Time For SAG

As the contract deadline nears, SAG will need to make a decision.  The Screen Actors Guild on Wednesday accused major Hollywood studios of offering the union a contract deal worth less than an agreement already approved by the leaders of a smaller actors union. SAG made the claim amid demands in Hollywood that it could end the possibility of a strike or lockout by accepting the same deal as the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists.

SAG's national executive committee has approved a measure granting its negotiators the authority to seek an extension of the contract. Although not a requirement, an extension seems to be a near certainty, because no substantive bargaining is likely to take place until the results of AFTRA's contract ratification vote are known on July 8th.  Read More
